The role of the Sr. Financial Analyst, Revenue is to support the transition from billing as revenue to cost input-based recognition under IFRS 15 by adapting current processes and tools into auditor approved templates and methods, updating as contracts are modified and highlighting potential efficiencies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with conversion of revenue recognition to percentage of/estimate to complete cost calculations per IFRS 15
  • Initially adapt top projects from invoicing grid into approved revenue template short term with view to expand to all projects by end of year
  • Collaborate with budgets and invoicing teams as well as management and process change stakeholders to map contract considerations, performance obligations, transition prices and recognize revenue as appropriate
  • Update revenue recognition files as change orders are executed
  • Work with project managers and functional leaders on clinical trial forecasts to enable understanding of profitability, operational drivers for variances, backlog shifts, risk and out of scope work
  • Ensure updates algin with auditor expectations and controls accruing for all costs needed
  • Manage revenue versus cash position including earned and unbilled, deferred and change order revenue
  • Assist with intercompany adjustments between business units
  • Propose revenue recognition process improvements during transition
  • Ad-hoc study specific or portfolio wide analysis and other financial reporting as requested

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Life Sciences; or relevant work experience in similar role. CPA a plus
  • A minimum of 1 year of revenue recognition experience under IFRS 15, ASC 606 or similar method required (preferably within the CRO sector)
  • Experience supporting change in revenue recognition methodology or testing a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Intermediate Excel skills (Pivots, LOOKUPs, INDEX, MATCH, SUMIFS, etc.) and general Microsoft Office understanding
  • Ability to succeed in recurring monthly cycles with time sensitive deadlines
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Effective communications skills
  • Understanding of project budgets, contracts, and costs as well as basic knowledge of the clinical trial process
