Houston-based MedSource, one of the fastest-growing private companies in Houston, has expanded to the U.K. through an acquisition earlier this year.

The clinical research organization announced June 13 that it acquired the data services division of Datatrial, a biometrics and technology company based in the U.K.

The acquisition adds new offerings for MedSource, including end-to-end clinical biometrics, data management, biostatistics and medical writing.

“The decision to move forward with this acquisition aligns with our commitment to more completely meet the needs of our clients,” Eric Lund, MedSource president and CEO, said in the June 13 press release. “MedSource will continue to provide the quality, flexibility and transparency our clients are accustomed to, with the added benefit of these data services being managed and controlled under one roof.”

With the U.K. expansion, MedSource now has four offices, with the other two in Raleigh, North Carolina, and San Diego, California. At one point, MedSource also was eyeing an expansion to Boston.

MedSource has increased its number of employees by more than 100 percent over the past three years. It also has ranked on the Houston Business Journal’s Fast 100 List multiple times in recent years. Last year, the company ranked No. 6 based on its two-year revenue growth of 260.15 percent. It reported $24.66 million in 2015 revenue, up from $6.85 million in 2013.

MedSource also ranked on last year’s Inc. 5000, another list of fast-growing companies.
